Interview with Christy Strauch

What is a shaman?

I’m pleased to share an interview I just did for a new community called @mysticsforhire. I believe by sharing our stories we feel less alone and can connect while healing from this human experience. My soul’s purpose is to help others heal through shamanic healing and poetry. In 16:44 minutes, we covered all the bases of who I am, what I have healed through and continue to learn from AND I share a poem from my latest book, “My Soul’s Dance, Accepting the shadows while embracing the Light”.

I’m going to link this interview to a blog post I wrote November 2, 2020, 2 months after being annointed a shaman through a sweat lodge ceremony. If you’re curious about what a shaman is and does please read https://emotionalmusings.com/2020/11/02/what-is-a-shaman-celebrating-my-ancestors-and-soul-work/

Energy’s pressure cooker

Collectively as we navigate all the change our world is experiencing from to the pandemic, it’s natural to feel the pressure on an energetic level from those around us. As we enter November, with holidays looming ahead, my sensitive soul feels like it’s been put into a pressure cooker with the heat set on high. This is something I feel both internally and externally. The writer in me retreats to my journal for a thorough brain dumping. That’s what I call the release of thoughts and feelings into words, creating little pictures in my imagination that blossom into poetic lines as my soul’s expression through poetry is born. Releasing all the pressure I feel inside, cleanses my being and widens the container so that I can accept all the love life is giving me. Dancing with all the newness in my environment as I continue to acclimate to a new job meeting new people all the time, all while reconnecting with family that I haven’t lived with for almost thirty years. This pressure blocks me from love and abundance, the truth of my being.

When I feel like I want to escape, hide and vanish into thin air; that’s when I know it’s time to slow down and return to my breath. To quietly witness whatever emotional activation has been raised. Tuning my attention inwards to cool the fires that rage inside me. Juggling a new schedule is one aspect of life that creates anxiety within, causing time management issues. I loathe having to manage my personal time between what I have to do outside the home and what I want to create, allowing the passion within to keep burning. It’s a practice and a balancing act as I intuitively tap in, becoming keenly aware that I’m the one who is far too demanding of myself. Deciding what to prioritize when I require rest and self care suddenly becomes a fight with my own drive and aliveness as I try to get everything that requires my attention finished quickly so that I can just be. Reconnecting to that happy place, my sweet spot inside is when I’m witnessing my own monkey mind’s gymnastics during meditation. Holding light to the truths that rise to the surface allows the internal temperature to cool and slows everything down so that the creative juices can flow and be expressed effortlessly.

Writing poetry is how I process the world around me and offers the testimony of my journey through healing from the human condition. I’ve often written about how all my sense settings are set to high. Being an empath, a psychic channel and medium for Spirit continues to teach me how important it is for me to remain vigilant and focused on my inner work, to peel the layers of conditioning and reveal more and more of my own soul. These cycles of death and rebirth often times create the feeling of being naked in front of the entire world! Adjusting to the changes in my life, allowing and accepting all the pieces of me that demand to be seen while shedding ego’s cries for the predictable and safe responses can feel daunting within the pressure cooker. I understand the pressure is necessary for changes to manifest the highest alignment of myself for the betterment of this journey’s evolution. Locked into a sacred dance with Spirit, allowing my soul to lead, learning the lessons I came here to learn in this reincarnation is what keeps me going. Releasing stubborn tendencies to be rigid with myself, forcing things to happen repeatedly shows me that I will continue to be disappointed in the outcomes. Therefore, surrendering to the flow of life, employing a deeper patience and allowing the most divine love, the highest love we all are deserving of and is meant for us, takes time. Feeling the pressure is a part of the growth process.

I often refer to the intuitive messages I receive as puzzle pieces. I am to observe and file them until necessary. I look at life from within a snowglobe that has been shook up, scattering these pieces everywhere. Living life on life’s terms, in each present moment, puts these pieces together in an order that’s meant for each of us. We are all one living organism broken up into pieces, experiencing different scenes within a master story we call life. Each of us have different roles, lessons to learn and jobs to carry out. The one thing we all have in common is love. Shine and share love with one another, no matter what. It is the fuel that keeps our life force energy alive! We are made from and will return to love the more we open our hearts and recognize the human within us all. This intention releases the pressure of competition, the mind chatter of false narratives, judgements and drive to be perfect. I invite you my dear readers to get quiet and return to your center, breathing in love and exhaling fear. What is the pressure you feel within teaching you?

The light you carry within is the key to connection
We are all deserving
Peeling the layers,revealing truth
Shadow work in a poem
I AM love, you are love, we are all love
Nature teaches us that Light is alive and in everything

“Need and Love” excerpt by Thomas Merton:

“Love is, in fact an intensification of life, a completeness, a fullness, a wholeness of life…Life curves upward to a peak of intensity, a high point of value and meaning, at which all its latent creative possibility go into action and the person transcends himself or herself in encounter, response and communion and self-transcendence. We do not become fully human until we give ourselves to each other in love”

The yin of love

Practicing the art of patience my dear readers in a world that thrives in constant and perpetual motion is a tall order most days. This past week I had the opportunity to take a yin yoga class that allowed me to go completely inwards, shut off my mind and be in my heart, which was highly uncomfortable at first. Through connecting with my breath I was able to release and surrender to the uncomfortability and let go absolutely. The sacred medicine of my soul can then fill my being, restoring me to a place of balanced harmony and truth. I left the class humming. Exercises like this remind me how love is always available should I choose to allow it.

The Universe is reshaping the collective in a deep way right now with the planetary alignment, allowing us to rewrite our stories from a much more empowered space of unconditional love. Divine feminine energy continues to rise and specifically is focusing on our male counterparts. Men in our society have been conditioned to believe that “being strong” means acting stoic and that crying or expressing emotion is weak. My oldest son once asked me, “Mom why do we have to feel?” I responded to him as I do my own thoughts on the subject. To feel is human. Emotions are energy is motion alerting us to what our body needs. How do we tackle the tough ones? Developing a practice of patience that gathers courage and allows us to release, express and process the lessons behind the feelings. This is the main message now that spirit is continually teaching me.

The focus of this blog is to muse on emotions. Today is my first Father’s Day without my Dad in physical form. However, his presence is strongly with me, surrounding me in spirit and I am so grateful for the ability to connect with him in a way that is more intuitive for me. Extra sensory sensitivities and perceptions were the parts of me I ran from, hid, denied and attempted to kill off. Now I embrace who I am with gratitude and unconditional love. I fill my cup as often as I can with what I need to continue the flow of love.

Fill your cup with love

My heart is so full of love today, as I lay next to my soul mate and best friend reunited physically, emotionally and spiritually. All the work that I have put into this past year has paid off in the most priceless of ways. Accepting this gift is the dividend from that soul searching work.

Love’s magical medicine

Yesterday we spent the entire day at the beach, something I adore doing, with the added bonus of live music! My dear readers know how much I love to dance. Being able to groove with my man had my heart overflowing! Barry White’s “You’re The First, The Last, My Everything” is the song he always serenades me with at karaoke. Dancing to it made our time apart worth every tear I shed while missing his closeness.

Beach dancing with a live DJ

I’m a woman with a lot more yang (masculine energy) than yin (female energy) and I can admit to having a hard time allowing myself to slow down, be gentle, receive and be soft. From the start of this year, these past six months has been an intentional process of opening my heart wider, showing the vulnerability which allows me to view the world through the lense of more compassion, empathy and kindness. First towards myself and then towards others I engage with. We are spiritual beings in human form. To feel is human, to overthink is natural and yes at times we feel apart from one another, succumbing to worry and fear. This is our greatest opportunity for the lesson which choosing love teaches us my dear readers. In the moments where we are most confused, most suffering, disconnected and fearful. Recognizing that all of that is an illusion what is real is love. What will save, heal and bring us closer to our goals is simply love. These poems highlight this and are channeled through spirit, through the Master spirits among us.

Healing, Mental health

May is for mental health, celebrating the many colors of my soul

Hello my dear readers, I’m back from my social media detox and vacation stays in North Carolina and Rhode Island. Ahhhhh, I feel so absolutely rejuvenated and refreshed! I had a real adventure while experiencing many hiccups and unexpected detours along the way. Life continues to delight and surprise me as I can hear the Universe whisper, “surrender my child, allow the flow”. These messages color my soul, the shades and hues are both vibrant at times and muted I others. The ongoing process of allowing myself to learn from my mistakes, when things don’t go as planned or fall apart completely teaches me to stay curious and open. Smooth waters never make a skilled sailor of any of us my dears.

Over these past two weeks I kept myself in nature’s glory, sunshibe and rain, in the moment and observed with all my senses what life was presenting me. This post is a celebration of how far I have traveled in one year since moving back to my parent’s home in South Florida and learning the art of shamanism. My hope is that my adventures awaken the colors of your own soul, ignite your passion inviting you to explore your own unique path. We are all here for a purpose and I’m continuing to uncover the depths of mine my dear readers through writing poetry, music and dance while enjoying the great outdoors! This is how I honor my soul’s aliveness!

Why do we tell others not to cry? It’s something that has always fascinated me. When my boys were young, I encouraged them to cry while their father had a tendency to shame them by telling them “don’t be a baby”. That statement really frustrates me! Crying is a signal from our body’s keen alert system to release energy. If we block, hide or suppress this important urge we are only hurting ourselves further. I intend to start a movement with the poem “Go ahead, please cry” and teach others with the poem “Hurting people hurt people”. We all deserve love, it starts from within. Once we can learn to love ourselves, heal our own wounds, we can share and give love to others. You can heal your life in this way my dear readers, I am living proof of that!

Vibing with my deep soul

“To vibe” with something, by definition, a distinctive feeling or quality capable of being sensed. My dear readers, I relate deeply with my soul. The depths of which I commune with myself and with Spirit are spectacularly awe inspiring and beautiful. The journey of my soul, the information that is revealed as I continue to investigate and heal astounds me. Remaining grateful for the peaks and valleys I travel through, understanding that whatever I encounter serves my highest good as I accept myself more fully with each passing day is a blessing. This is what “Triumphing over Trauma” looks like and certainly feels like!

Last week I experienced my first float therapy session. Immediately afterwards I was reminded of how fresh and clean my energetic field had become, relative to the sweat lodge ceremony with my mentor after being anointed a shaman in September. Since that time, I have learned and progressed quite a bit while practicing and living this path. The sacred dance with Spirit is very special to me and I am eternally grateful for the pearls of wisdom I gather along the way. I feel refreshed, restored, rejuvenated and redeemed! I highly recommend it. It was wonderfully peaceful, like heaven on Earth. These poems were birthed from this mindset. As I continue to discover more truth about myself, the deeper I dwell, which is where I feel most comfortable and at home.

Deep thoughts +deep feelings =deep soul expression

I recorded this video yesterday to give you all a taste of what it’s like in a shamanic healing session with me. These are the mantras I begin with to connect to a client’s energy field and highest self. This is an art and my soul incorporates the healing qualities and vibrations of poetry, music and singing into each session. Along with sacred tools like crystals, herbs, oils and tarot cards, I’m able to see people’s souls and help reconnect them with their authentic spirit guided by my own Spirit mentors and guides. It’s an honor and privilege to see others in this way and assist in the healing process that has profoundly healed and changed my life so completely. I’m always available to answer any questions or inquiries you may have my dear ones. Please reach out in either the comments here or through my contact page and on all social media platforms, excluding Facebook @ladysag77
